Chicopee Galaxy
Get to Know Us
Our mission of the Chicopee Galaxy Youth Athletic Association is to instill in the youth of the community life-long principles of good citizenship, teamwork, dedication, discipline, loyalty, a superior work effort, and the knowledge in the competitive fundamentals of the sport.
It is the purpose of the Chicopee Galaxy to teach the participating youths these fundamentals, physical fitness, mental discipline, and teamwork by providing a supervised, safety oriented, and instructional athletic program. This will help the participants be stronger, healthier, and happier individuals while participating in activities they enjoy, developing a winning attitude and practicing good sportsmanship. Which will not only be carried out both on and off the field of play, but follow them as they get older as well.
Our Programs
Chicopee Galaxy provides the opportunity for the youth of Chicopee to participate in a tackle football and cheerleading program in the fall and a flag football league in the spring.
Tackle Football
Our youth tackle football program teaches kids in grades 2nd - 8th about what it means to be a “good sport” and what it looks like to celebrate wins and learn from losses. Our program equips kids with the skills needed to be resilient and learn to independently pick themselves up when things get tough. We teach and instill what it means to be a leader and show responsibility for their actions on and off the field. We instill the value of teamwork and teach kids how to play and interact with others, no matter what age they entered the sport.
Cheerleading
Our Cheerleading program offers girls in grades K-8 the chance to get active and have some fun cheering on our Galaxy tackle football teams. We build self-confidence and self-esteem in a fun environment where everyone gets to cheer. Our cheerleaders will learn chants and dances to motivate our football teams, entertain the audience, and maybe enter some competitions.
Flag Football
This is a non-contact sport that builds on the skills that are taught in tackle football. Being non-contact, many children and parents like the idea of starting out or playing a sport that is less physical than tackle but still teaches them the game. The grades that can play are from kindergarten through 8th and the teams are co-ed. There is no limit in the number of children that can play or the amount of teams that we have.
